## The short answers

### Where is my baby's data stored?

On your phone, or in your browser, until you add an email. On iPhone, a copy also sits in your own iCloud when iCloud is on for HiLo, where we can't read it, so installing the app again brings the log back. After you add an email it is backed up on secure servers in the European Union instead, so it stays in sync with the people you share it with.

### Who can see my baby's log?

Only the caregivers you invite, each signed in with their own email. We keep the log to sync it between them, use it only within that household for its reminders, notifications and trends, and never share it with third parties.

### Does HiLo Baby sell my data or show ads?

No. There are no ads, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising.

### Does HiLo Baby use analytics?

Yes. To fix problems and improve HiLo Baby, we collect error reports and usage patterns, like which screens are opened and what is tapped. Those reports go to third-party analytics and error tracking services with your baby's details hidden, and your baby's log itself is never shared. You can turn the reports off in Settings.

### How do I delete my baby's data?

Email hello@hilo.baby from the address on the log. Within 30 days the log, everything in it and your account are deleted. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes the copy on that device.

## On your phone

When you start a log, it lives on your phone, in your browser, and the log itself stays there until you add an email. Before then, the only things that leave the phone are the usage reports described below, which you can turn off, and on iPhone a copy of the log in your own iCloud.

On iPhone, while the log has no email and iCloud is on for HiLo, the app keeps one copy of it in your iCloud, so the log comes back if you delete the app and install it again. Apple stores it under your Apple account, and we can't read it. The copy is deleted once the log is backed up with an email, or when you remove the log from the phone. Turning iCloud off for HiLo in the Settings app stops it.

Signing out keeps it there, so the next feed can still be logged. To remove it from a phone or computer, clear this site's data in your browser's settings.

A few cookies keep you signed in, and our analytics uses one to recognise your device.

## When you back up and share

Adding an email backs your log up, so it is safe if you lose your phone and stays in sync with everyone you invite. We keep:

- your email address
- the log's name, and each caregiver's name and relation to the baby
- each child's name, birth date, due date and sex
- every entry, with its times, amounts and notes, and who logged it
- the invites you send
- if you buy HiLo Plus: which household it covers, the product, when it started and ends, whether it renews, the store's transaction id and which member bought it
- for each phone or browser that gets notifications: its push address, time zone, app version and choices, and a 90-day record of what was sent and, if you share usage patterns, opened

Your log is kept on secure servers in the European Union, and it travels encrypted between your phone and our servers.

## Who can see your log, and how we use it

Only the caregivers you invite, each signed in with their own email. They see the whole log and who logged what. An invite goes to their email, or as a link you send them yourself. A link works once, for three days, and whoever opens it first signs in and joins, so send it only to the person it is for.

We store the log so everyone in the household stays in sync, and use it only within that household: to send its reminders and notifications and to show its trends. We never sell it, never use it for advertising and never share it with third parties. For a HiLo Plus household, our server works out each child's next nap time from the log it already keeps, to send nap reminders to that household's phones. Nothing about it leaves our servers except the reminder itself.

If you write to us for help, we may look at your log to answer you.

## Error reports and usage patterns

To find what breaks and what is hard to use, HiLo Baby collects error reports and usage patterns: which screens are opened, what is tapped, recordings of how a visit went and the rough area you are in. Your baby's details and everything you type are hidden in these reports, and once you add an email they are linked to your account. Two third-party services process them for us: one for usage patterns, and one in the EU for error reports. Your baby's log itself is never sent to either.

The iPhone and Android apps send only usage events, such as an entry being logged or an invite being shared, and reports of crashes and errors, with no recordings and no location. You can turn the reports off at any time in the app's Settings, under Privacy, on each device you use.

## Siri and Gemini

If you ask Siri, or Google's Gemini where it can use HiLo on your phone, to log something, the app tells it your baby's name so it can find the right log, and what it logged. Asking Siri or Gemini how the day went gives it every entry from the last 24 hours, notes included, and on an iPhone a shortcut you build can pass them on. Opening the assistant on the Log screen also tells it which baby the screen shows, so "start a feed for her" works. Nothing goes to an assistant unless you ask it, Apple and Google handle what you say under their own privacy terms, and your baby's name is never added to your phone's search.

## Emails

We email you to sign you in and to pass on an invite. We also send three reminders, each once: the day after you back up a log, if nobody else has joined it, we ask who else gets up at night; two days after you invite someone who hasn't joined, we suggest sending them a link instead, as a notification if you get HiLo Baby's notifications about invites and as an email if you don't; and two days before an emailed invite ends, the person invited gets one reminder. Your entries are never in an email.

## If you ask to hear about the iPhone app

If you leave your email at hilo.baby/iphone, we keep that address and when you left it, and use it for one email: the day the iPhone app is out. Sending it deletes your address. To be taken off the list before then, write to hello@hilo.baby.

## If you buy HiLo Plus

Apple or Google takes the payment, and we never see card details. We keep which household it covers, the product, when it started and ends, whether it renews, the store's transaction id and which member bought it, so every phone in the household gets Plus.

## Notifications

HiLo Baby can send notifications to the iPhone and Android apps, and to browsers where you turn them on (on iPhone and iPad, once HiLo Baby is on your Home Screen). They need your log backed up, and each phone or browser keeps its own choices in Settings, under Notifications.

Reminders, which you turn on yourself, say a feed is due or a timer is still running, and for how long. When someone else in your log adds an entry, the others can get a notification with that person's name as it appears in the log and the kind of entry: a feed, a sleep, a diaper, pumping, or just an entry. We also tell you when someone joins a log you invited them to, when they add their first entry, when an invite has waited two days, and, once each time a log you've been adding to goes quiet for three days, that it's quiet, at most three times.

News from HiLo Baby, about new features and tips, is on once you allow notifications in HiLo Baby, after it says so, and is turned off in Settings, under Notifications. It comes at most twice a month, and only between 8 am and 9 pm where your phone is. Everyone it goes to gets the same words. We may send a piece only to people whose log is or isn't shared yet, who have an invite waiting, or who are new to HiLo Baby, but never based on what or when anyone logged.

Between 9 pm and 8 am where your phone is, nothing from HiLo Baby makes a sound apart from your own reminders: a note about someone else's entry arrives silently, and the rest waits for the morning.

To send them we keep, for each phone or browser: the address Apple, Google or your browser's push service gives us for it, its time zone, its app version, whether it allows notifications and which ones you chose. We keep a record of each notification we send for 90 days and, if you share usage patterns, whether it was opened; what a notification about your log said is erased from that record once it is sent. Apple, Google and your browser's push service deliver notifications for us. On iPhone a notification about your log shows its text on the lock screen as your phone's preview setting allows: only after you unlock, unless you set previews to Always. On Android it shows on the lock screen unless you hide sensitive content there, and then it says only "New activity in HiLo".

Turning a kind off in Settings stops it on that device. Signing out stops them all on that device and deletes what we kept for it, and deleting your account deletes it everywhere.

## Who helps us run HiLo Baby

Hosting, analytics, email delivery, push notifications (Apple's and Google's push services, and your browser's, which may carry a notification's text outside the EU) and our support inbox run on services that handle data only to run HiLo Baby. We sell nothing to anyone, and there are no ads.

## How long we keep it

Your log is kept for as long as you keep it. An entry you delete disappears from every phone straight away, and is erased for good when the whole log is deleted. Visit replays are kept for up to 30 days.

## Deleting your data

Email hello@hilo.baby from the address on the log and tell us which log. Within 30 days we delete the log, everything in it and your account, and let you know when it is done.

You can also delete your account yourself, in Settings under Account. That deletes every log you started, for everyone in it, and removes you from the logs you joined, where what you logged stays.

Deleting a whole log is for the person who started it. Anyone else can leave a log from Family at any time, and what they logged stays in it.

## Children, changes and contact

HiLo Baby is for the parents and caregivers who look after a baby, not for children to use.

When this page changes, the date at the top changes too. Questions? Write to hello@hilo.baby. HiLo Baby is made by Logesh Tech Solutions.
